Volume 4, Issue 2 of the journal Tropical Aquatic Science presents a collection of scientific research from lecturers, researchers, and students within and outside the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Universitas Mulawarman. This issue features diverse studies on aquatic ecosystems, including coral cover in Miang Island waters, the population dynamics of the Sand Shrimp (Metapenaeus brevicornis) in Samboja Kuala, and macroplastic pollution on Manggar Beach. Coastal ecosystem research includes the condition of Rhizophora mucronata mangroves in Bontang, litter density and production in Graha Indah Balikpapan, and seagrass distribution patterns in Beras Basah Island waters. Contemporary issues are addressed through studies on microplastic content in Milkfish (Chanos chanos) from Sembilang Estuary and mesoplastic waste characteristics on Monpera Beach. The volume also covers water quality and environmental management, with research on the water quality of the Karang Mumus River, the influence of substrate on the morphometrics of Thalassia hemprichii seagrass, mangrove conditions in the Non-Forest Area (APL) of Semanting Bay, and a waste management model for the Green Nirvana Maratua Resort. The comprehensive and scientific discussions provide valuable information for the public and enrich the scientific knowledge of fisheries and marine science in Indonesia, particularly in East Kalimantan.
