Focus and Scope

Journal of Aquatic and Fisheries Products Technology (AFISH) publishes scientific articles in the field of fisheries products technology and related areas that contribute to the advancement of science, technology, innovation, quality, safety, processing, utilization, and value addition of aquatic and fisheries resources.

AFISH provides a scholarly platform for researchers, academics, practitioners, students, and professionals to disseminate scientific findings, technological developments, and critical reviews related to fisheries products and their utilization.

AFISH accepts Research Articles and Review Articles. Manuscripts may be submitted in English or Bahasa Indonesia, with English metadata required for all submissions.

Scope of the Journal

The scope of AFISH includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:

  • Post-harvest handling and preservation of aquatic and fisheries products.
  • Processing technology for fish, shellfish, seaweed, and other aquatic resources.
  • Quality control and food safety, including product quality, food hygiene, contaminants, quality assurance, and safety evaluation.
  • Product diversification and development, including innovative and value-added fisheries products.
  • Biotechnology related to fisheries products, processing, fermentation, enzymes, microorganisms, and bioactive compounds.
  • Functional foods and functional products derived from aquatic and fisheries resources.
  • Packaging and storage technology, including shelf-life, preservation systems, and product stability.
  • Utilization of fisheries waste and by-products for food, feed, biomaterials, bioactive compounds, and other value-added applications.
  • Sensory analysis and consumer acceptance of aquatic and fisheries products.
  • Microbiological, chemical, physicochemical, and nutritional analysis related to fisheries products and processing.
  • Small-scale fisheries industries, entrepreneurship, and product innovation related to fisheries processing and value-added products.

Types of Manuscripts

Research Article

Original Research

Original scientific research presenting clear objectives, appropriate methodology, valid data analysis, and findings that contribute to the development of fisheries products technology.
Review Article

Critical Scientific Review

Comprehensive and critical reviews that synthesize current knowledge, evaluate scientific developments, identify research gaps, and provide perspectives relevant to the scope of AFISH.

Editorial Screening

Submitted manuscripts will undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their relevance to the journal's scope, manuscript type, basic scientific quality, completeness, and compliance with AFISH submission requirements.

Manuscripts whose primary subject falls outside the field of fisheries products technology or does not demonstrate sufficient relevance to the scope of AFISH may be declined before peer review.
