Peer Review Process
FORUM EKONOMI: Jurnal Ekonomi, Manajemen dan Akuntansi applying a double-blind peer review system in the scientific article selection process. The assessment is carried out by paying attention to the suitability of the manuscript with the focus and scope of the journal, the novelty of the research, the contribution to the development of theory, and the practical benefits for the fields of economics, management, accounting, and investment. The two-way anonymous review system is applied to support objectivity and fairness in the evaluation process. Editors and reviewers provide constructive input as material for improving the quality of the manuscript. The stages of article review are carried out as follows.
1. Submission of Manuscripts
2. Initial Editorial Screening
Each incoming manuscript is first checked by the Editor-in-Chief through the initial evaluation stage (desk evaluation). The inspection includes administrative completeness, suitability with the journal's writing guidelines and templates, and the relevance of the article to the focus and scope of the journal. Manuscripts that meet the initial requirements will be processed to the next stage. On the other hand, non-suitable manuscripts can be rejected at this stage so that the author can consider other journals that are more relevant.
3. Similarity Check
Submitted manuscripts will undergo a similarity check using Turnitin or a text similarity check device set by the journal. If the similarity level exceeds 30%, the manuscript may be rejected before entering a substantive assessment in accordance with the journal's anti-plagiarism policy. This check is carried out to identify potential improper similarities and support academic integrity. Manuscripts that meet the requirements will be forwarded to editors who have competence in the field of article study.
4. Editorial Assessment and Peer Review
The assigned editor evaluates the novelty, scientific quality, relevance of the problem, methodological accuracy, and theoretical and practical contributions of the manuscript. Articles that are judged to have no novelty or adequate scientific contribution may be rejected at the editorial evaluation stage. Manuscripts that meet the eligibility criteria will be forwarded to the reviewer to undergo substantive assessment through the double-blind peer review mechanism, i.e. the identity of the author and reviewer is not disclosed to each other during the review process.
5. Editorial Decision
After the review process is completed, the Editor-in-Chief makes a decision by considering the recommendations of the editor and reviewer. Editorial decisions consist of the following four categories:
- Rejected: Manuscripts cannot be accepted for publication for scientific or editorial reasons, such as lack of novelty, limited contributions, methodological weaknesses, incompatibility with the scope of the journal, or presentation quality that does not meet publication standards.
- Accepted with Major Revision: The manuscript requires substantial improvements, such as novelty, theoretical foundation, methodology, analysis, interpretation of results, or research contributions. Authors are given approximately 4–12 weeks to complete the revision according to the deadline set by the editor.
- Accepted with Minor Revision: Manuscripts require limited corrections that do not change the main substance of the research, such as enhancements to presentation, specific explanations, references, or adjustments to journal writing guidelines. Authors are given approximately 1–4 weeks to complete the revision.
- Accepted without Revision: Manuscripts are declared accepted without substantive revisions. However, final checks and proofreading can still be done prior to publication.
6. Manuscript Revision
Manuscripts that receive minor or major revision decisions will be returned to the author with comments and recommendations from editors and reviewers. Authors are obliged to respond to the input and improve the manuscript in accordance with the evaluation notes provided.
7. Revision Deadline and Author Response
The author must submit the revised manuscript within the time limit determined based on the category of editorial decision. If an extension of time is required, the author must submit an application to the Editor-in-Chief via email jfor@feb.unmul.ac.id before the deadline ends.
Authors who do not submit a revised manuscript by the stipulated deadline and do not provide notice to the editor may be considered to have withdrawn from the publication process. Each revision submission must be accompanied by a response to reviewers document explaining the follow-up to the comments and suggestions given.
8. Final Acceptance and Publication
Manuscripts that have completed all stages of revision and are declared accepted will be scheduled for publication by the Editor-in-Chief. The determination of volume and issue number follows the journal's editorial policy. Authors can submit applications regarding the expected edition via email jfor@feb.unmul.ac.id, but the final decision regarding article placement remains the authority of the journal manager.
NOTES
Review Duration
The initial examination stage, including the evaluation of manuscript suitability and similarity check as described in stages 2 and 3, is targeted to be completed within a maximum of one week. A change in status in the OJS, from "Pending Assignment" to "Under Review", can be one of the indicators that the manuscript has entered the next editorial stage. Substantive review generally lasts about 4–8 weeks, depending on the availability and time of completion of the editor's and reviewer's assignments. If the author has not received information about the progress of the manuscript in a reasonable time, the author can contact the journal manager via jfor@feb.unmul.ac.id
Estimated Time to Publication
Based on the estimate that applies in 2025, the time required from submission to publication of the article is estimated to be around 90 days or three months. This period is an estimate and may change according to the complexity of the review process, the number of revision rounds, the readiness of the author, and the stage of article production.
Conference-Based Submissions
Manuscripts originating from conferences affiliated with the FORUM EKONOMI: Jurnal Ekonomi, Manajemen dan Akuntansi must still meet quality standards and follow applicable peer review procedures. Affiliation with the conference does not automatically guarantee acceptance of articles for publication.
