Publication Ethics

This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in publishing in JTESH: Journal of Tropical Environmental & Sustainable Health, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher. This statement is based on the COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors, and the COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers

General Principles

Peer-reviewed publication is essential for building a credible and reliable body of scientific knowledge. JTESH is committed to maintaining high ethical standards and ensuring that editorial decisions are free from commercial influence.

Editorial Responsibilities

Publication Decisions
Editors are responsible for determining which manuscripts are accepted for publication based on their scientific merit, originality, and relevance. Decisions are guided by editorial policies and legal considerations such as copyright and plagiarism.

Fairness
Manuscripts are evaluated solely on academic content, without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, or political views.

Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must keep all manuscript information confidential and only share it with authorized parties involved in the review process.

Conflict of Interest
Editors must not use unpublished materials from submitted manuscripts for personal research without the author’s written consent.

Reviewer Responsibilities

Contribution to Decisions
Reviewers assist editors in making publication decisions and help authors improve their manuscripts.

Timeliness
Reviewers should promptly inform editors if they are unable to review a manuscript.

Confidentiality
All manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential.

Objectivity
Reviews must be conducted objectively, with clear arguments and without personal criticism.

Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify uncited relevant work and report any similarities with existing publications.

Conflict of Interest
Reviewers must avoid evaluating manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist and must not use unpublished information for personal gain.

Author Responsibilities

Reporting Standards
Authors must present accurate, honest, and complete accounts of their research, with sufficient detail for replication.

Data Access
Authors should be prepared to provide raw data for editorial review and retain data after publication when required.

Originality and Plagiarism
Manuscripts must be original, and all sources must be properly cited.

Multiple Publication
Submitting the same or similar work to multiple journals simultaneously is unethical and not allowed.

Acknowledgment of Sources
All contributions and references must be properly acknowledged.

Authorship
Only individuals who significantly contributed to the research should be listed as authors. All co-authors must approve the final manuscript.

Human and Animal Ethics
Research involving humans or animals must comply with ethical standards, including informed consent and proper treatment procedures.

Conflict of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest and all sources of funding.

Corrections and Retractions
If significant errors are discovered after publication, authors must promptly notify the journal and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article.

JTESH is committed to upholding ethical publishing practices and ensuring the integrity, transparency, and quality of all published research.
