Pendampingan Implementasi Higiene dan Sanitasi pada Kantin Warung Pojok Universitas Mulawarman

Health is a crucial aspect that must be strictly maintained. One of the factors that is often the cause of health problems is the food that a person consumes. Hygiene and sanitation are a series of preventive measures that aim to protect food and beverages from all potential hazards that can endanger human health. Campus canteens have an important role to play in encouraging healthy food choices and creating an environment that supports a healthy lifestyle for students and staff. This community service aims to provide counseling on the importance of implementing hygiene and sanitation in the Corner Warung Canteen of Mulawarman University. The methods used are socialization, observation, and interviews, as well as understanding with the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. The results obtained from this activity show an increase in understanding by business actors of the importance of implementing hygiene and sanitation. There was an increase in scores based on assessments using the A1 category jasaboga questionnaire tool. The previous value was 63 and became 68 on a scale of 70. This result has met the minimum standard of the A1 category jasaboga assessment range, which is 65 – 70. An increase occurred in the components of the available garbage cans that are sufficient, covered, anti-flies, cockroaches, rats and covered with plastic bags that are always lifted every time they are full, disposable cutlery and cooking utensils are not reused, the washing process goes through stages starting from cleaning food waste, soaking, washing and rinsing, poisons/pesticides are stored separately in a safe place, protected, using clear labels/markings for use, as well as protection against insects, rodents, pets and other nuisance animals.
