Purpose: This study analyzes three dimensions of digital communication among Indonesian Generation Z, namely lexical choices, emoji functions, and online communication styles, as indicators of Pancasila-based digital citizenship ethics, in response to the paradox that high social media usage is not accompanied by language quality reflecting Pancasila values. Design/methodology/approach: The study uses a critical-qualitative library research method triangulated with Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis, Kress's Social Multimodal Semiotics, and Pancasila normative analysis. Findings: The analysis reveals a significant digital citizenship dissonance. Aggressive lexical choices form and intensify through algorithmic-based linguistic normalization; emoji operate as a layered semiotic system enabling covert aggression; and communication styles such as echo chambers and cancel culture structurally undermine democratic deliberation. Research limitations/implications: The proposed framework needs to be tested empirically through field research, large-scale digital linguistic corpus analysis, and studies of its implementation effectiveness in civic education. Practical implications: Transforming civic education from a value-transmission model to an experiential-contextual approach is an urgency that cannot be deferred. Originality/value: This study introduces the Triadic Framework of Pancasila-Based Digital Language Citizenship (TKLDB-P), which integrates linguistic, semiotic, and pragmatic dimensions with the normative reference of Pancasila's five principles.
