Shoushika: Pilihan Rasional Perempuan Jepang terhadap Ketimpangan Gender

Dengan menggunakan perspektif feminisme liberal, studi ini menjelaskan tren penurunan angka kelahiran (Shoushika) di kalangan perempuan Jepang. Meskipun Pemerintah Jepang telah mengeluarkan banyak kebijakan positif yang mendukung kelahiran anak, namun fenomena Shoushika masih terus meningkat di kalangan perempuan. Kebijakan pemerintah tersebut tampaknya menganggap isu Shoushika sebagai persoalan teknis ekonomi semata, dan memandang perempuan sebagai sumber tenaga kerja, sehingga menyebabkan kurangnya perbaikan dalam situasi tersebut. Studi ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk mengeksplorasi alasan di balik tren peningkatan fenomena Shoushika dari perspektif perempuan Jepang. Temuan penelitian ini menyoroti bahwa banyak perempuan Jepang masih menghadapi berbagai ketimpangan berbasis gender yang sangat memberatkan ketika mereka menikah atau memiliki anak, sehingga menyebabkan kecenderungan untuk memilih Shoushika. Tulisan ini berkontribusi pada pemahaman yang lebih luas bahwa Shoushika bukan hanya sekadar persoalan ekonomi, tetapi juga terkait dengan ketimpangan budaya gender tradisional yang perlu diperbaiki.
