Reproductive Performance of Female Bali Cattle (Bos sondaicus) in Loa Janan District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency

Reproductive performance is a crucial factor in optimizing the efficiency of Bali cattle breeding programs, specifically to ensure that cows produce a calf annually. This study aimed to assess the reproductive performance of female Bali cattle in Loa Janan District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. The research was conducted at smallholder farms in the district from June to December 2024. A purposive sampling method was employed, selecting female Bali cattle based on specific criteria. The study utilized 85 breeding cows owned by local farmers. Data were collected through direct observation, farmer interviews, and the examination of livestock records. The variables analyzed descriptively included Calving Interval, Services per Conception, Conception Rate, and Mating System. The results showed an average Calving Interval of 365.73 days, 1.5 Services per Conception, a Conception Rate of 72.94%, and a mating system where 72% of matings occurred naturally. Overall, the findings indicate that the reproductive performance of Bali cattle in Loa Janan District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, is excellent.
