Water quality is an essential factor affecting public health, particularly in rural areas where groundwater is the primary source of clean water. This community service program aimed to improve community awareness of water quality and introduce appropriate technology for water quality monitoring in Sungai Tabuan Hamlet, Sangkima Village, East Kutai Regency. The program was conducted through field observation, water sampling, development and calibration of a portable water quality monitoring device, community education, device demonstration, and evaluation. Initial measurements showed variations in water quality among three communal wells. One well had a pH value below the recommended standard, while the other two met the acceptable pH range with different Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) levels. The developed device successfully measured pH, TDS, and water temperature in real time and was effectively utilised as an educational tool during community outreach activities. The evaluation indicated improved community understanding of the importance of regular water quality monitoring and the application of appropriate technology. These results demonstrate that community education supported by appropriate technology can enhance public awareness and encourage sustainable management of local water resources.
