Abstract

Desa Tani Harapan, located in Loa Janan Subdistrict, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, faces multisectoral challenges as a ring-1 area affected by coal mining and oil palm plantation activities, including limited early detection of tuberculosis (TB) and non-communicable diseases, low financial literacy among youth, and weak legality and competitiveness of local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This community service programme was implemented through a participatory, multisectoral community empowerment approach involving three integrated activities: TB-free health screening, financial literacy education, and MSME strengthening. The health screening, conducted in collaboration with Puskesmas Batuah, involved 49 participants, of whom 28 (57.1%) showed symptoms indicative of TB and were subsequently referred for sputum examination and follow-up by the health centre. Financial literacy education was delivered to 42 ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 06 Loa Janan, focusing on money management and the risks of illegal online loans and online gambling. The MSME strengthening programme mapped nine business groups across nine neighbourhood units (RT) and provided tailored assistance, resulting in seven completed promotional booklets, two newly issued business registration numbers (NIB), four social media accounts, and one Google Maps business location point. These
results indicate that the multisectoral and participatory approach effectively addressed interconnected health, financial, and economic challenges, contributing to improved community health awareness, youth financial resilience, and local MSME competitiveness in Tani Harapan Village.
