Abstract

The community service program called GERTI SEHATI (Gerakan Desa Girimukti Untuk Sehatkan Rumah, Hambat Penularan, dan Tingkatkan Kesadaran Terhadap TBC) was held at the Dewi Sinta Posyandu in Girimukti Village, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan. This activity aimed to increase community knowledge about tuberculosis (TB) and support early detection through health screenings. The target group consisted of 23 participants, including 8 men and 15 women. The program was implemented in three main stages: a pre-test, an interactive educational session, and a post-test, combined with sputum screening conducted in collaboration with the Petung Community Health Center (Puskesmas). Educational materials were presented using visual aids such as PowerPoint presentations, posters, and leaflets covering topics including the causes, symptoms, modes of transmission, prevention, and treatment of TB, as well as criteria for a healthy home. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge, with the average score rising from 86.95% on the pre-test to 99.13% on the post-test. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon test yielded a p-value of <0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating a positive impact from the educational activities. Furthermore, health screenings and sputum examinations of high-risk participants did not identify any confirmed cases of TB. Overall, the GERTI SEHATI program successfully integrated promotive, preventive, and early detection aspects into TB control at the village level.
