Strengthening Children's Understanding of Nutrition through Interactive Education as a Stunting Prevention Effort at SD 039 Tani Bhakti Village West Samboja

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to strengthen students' understanding of nutrition, stunting, nutritious food, and clean and healthy living habits through interactive education. The event took place on August 6, 2026, at SD 039 Samboja in Tani Bhakti Village, West Samboja District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan, involving 29 students and nine university students participating in the Collaborative Community Service Program. A participatory education method was employed, combining material presentation, interactive storytelling, Q&A sessions, games, and quizzes. The activity was divided into three segments: the "Facing the Stunting Monster" Mission, the "Three Superhero Weapons and the Super-Nutrition Plate" Mission, and the "Little Nutrition Detective Quiz" Mission. The material covered an introduction to stunting, dietary diversity, animal protein sources, balanced nutrition, and clean and healthy living habits. Evaluation was conducted via quizzes to assess student understanding following the activity. Results showed that 20 out of 29 students (69.0%) correctly answered questions regarding animal protein sources, while 25 students (86.2%) were able to name examples of clean living habits. These findings indicate that interactive education can help students grasp basic information about nutrition and healthy living habits. The activity is expected to improve nutrition literacy and support the formation of healthy lifestyle habits from an early age.
