Implementation of the LOSIDA (Lodong Sisa Dapur) Method through the ARUNA (Alternatif Ramah Lingkungan untuk Nutrisi Alami) Innovation as an Effort to Educate and Empower the Community in Sustainable Household Organic Waste Management in Kariangau Village

Implementasi Metode LOSIDA (Lodong Sisa Dapur) melalui Inovasi ARUNA (Alternatif Ramah Lingkungan untuk Nutrisi Alami) sebagai Upaya Edukasi dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat dalam Pengelolaan Sampah Organik Rumah Tangga Berkelanjutan di Kelurahan Kariangau

Abstract

The implementation of organic waste management in the community is still hindered, among others, due to low knowledge of processing techniques, limited skills in utilising organic waste, and the lack of optimal implementation of simple and easy-to-apply methods in daily life. This program provides an innovative organic waste management method that is practical, economical, environmentally friendly, and easy to implement independently, namely ARUNA (Environmentally Friendly Alternative for Natural Nutrition) which is held in Kariangau Village, West Balikpapan District, Balikpapan. ARUNA is able to manage organic compost as well as become a planting medium in the same container so that the composting process is much easier. The methods in this program are prototype design, counselling to the community, interactive demonstration, and monitoring. The result of this program has not been fully implemented by the community due to the lack of information delivery to the main users of ARUNA and the implementation time that is close to the independence day of the Republic of Indonesia so that the community is still busy with the preparation of each RT. Based on the results, the team will give an explanation again to the beneficiaries who have not used ARUNA and carry out further monitoring after the community activities are completed.
