Abstract

ABSTRACT: The Thematic Community Service Program (KKN) based on the Climate Village Program (Proklim) in Api-Api Village, Waru Subdistrict, Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan, was implemented to support climate change adaptation and mitigation through a community-based approach. Activities included environmental education (signboards, infographics, banners, breakwater simulations), waste management (three-color waste bins, biopores, upcycled costumes, waste bank rehabilitation, 100 recycled bottles for garden decoration), reforestation (planting fruit trees, ornamental plants, medicinal plants, and distributing 260 seedlings), renewable energy (wind turbine), and local economic empowerment (palm sugar MSME branding). Engaging communities, students, women’s groups, and fishermen, the program enhanced environmental awareness, collected 16 kg of recyclable waste, reduced waterlogging, provided beach lighting, and increased local product visibility. Challenges such as limited MSME participation and the need for plant monitoring require improvement. The program supports Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 12 and 13, positioning Api-Api Village as a model for sustainable climate villages.
