The Community Service Program of Mulawarman University focused on empowering local communities through two flagship activities in Makarti Village, Marangkayu District: PLASTANI (Plastic for Farming) and Anti-Bullying Socialization. PLASTANI utilized plastic bottles as semi-hydroponic wick system planting media to reduce plastic waste while strengthening household food security. Training combined theory and practice, enabling participants to create planting systems independently. Results showed that more than 95% of participants successfully implemented the semi-hydroponic system, and several community groups adopted it in practice. Meanwhile, the Anti-Bullying Socialization was conducted at SDN 011 Marangkayu through interactive discussions, pre-test, post-test, and reflection using anonymous sticky notes. The activity improved students’ understanding of bullying and harassment from less than 30% before the program to over 70% after. In addition, students showed increased confidence in answering questions and participating in discussions. These findings demonstrate that community service integrating environmental innovation and character education can positively impact both waste management and social awareness. Thus, the synergy between environmental sustainability and education has the potential to build resilient, inclusive, and sustainable rural communities
