Abstract

Community empowerment in Tubaan Village, Tabalar Subdistrict, Berau Regency, was implemented to improve the quality of life of the community through educational, preventive, and participatory approaches. The activities were designed based on field observations and actively involved the community to ensure that they met local needs. The focus of activities includes education, health, economy, and utilisation of environmental potential. Some of the main programmes implemented include the production of videos promoting the potential of villages as a medium for promoting local resources, socialisation of electricity conservation, English tutoring for primary school students, anti-bullying education for teenagers, and education on the dangers of chemical fertilisers. In the field of health, activities are focused on education about the dangers of diabetes mellitus and antibiotic resistance. In addition, the students also provided training on village cooperative financial management and socialization about the importance of utilizing medicinal plants (TOGA) as functional foods. The results of the programme show an increase in the community's knowledge, skills and awareness in maintaining health, managing local potential and developing economic independence. The production of videos showcasing the potential of villages has proven to strengthen the image of villages while opening up opportunities for cross-sector cooperation. Health education programmes encourage healthy lifestyle changes, while economic training and the use of TOGA contribute to community independence. Overall, this activity successfully built synergy between students and the community in realising sustainable development based on local potential.
