The waste problem in Gunung Lingai Sub-district of Samarinda has worsened as the population increases, highlighting the need for innovative waste management solutions. This initiative addresses the public's lack of awareness about the economic value of waste and the poor integration of digital technology in the waste management system. The prevalent community paradigm, which perceives waste as valueless, must be shifted towards an understanding that waste possesses economic potential through the implementation of a circular economy framework. The primary aim of this activity is to develop a web-based digital waste management system aimed at enhancing community engagement in waste segregation, generating economic value from waste materials, and establishing a comprehensive waste management database for Gunung Lingai. The method of implementation encompasses conducting a community needs survey, coordinating with the local government and relevant stakeholders, designing a user-friendly website, conducting community socialization and education sessions about the concept of valuable waste, providing training on the use of information systems, and establishing a system for ongoing monitoring and evaluation. The project results in launching a website called "SIPILAH" (Waste Sorting and Bank Information System). It provides educational resources on waste types, sorting instructions, details on the economic potential of waste, a transaction logging system, and a platform connecting community members with waste management service authorities. This initiative has successfully heightened public awareness of the significance of waste sorting and has facilitated easier access to information on transforming waste into a viable economic resource for the residents of Gunung Lingai.
