The issue of waste, particularly plastic waste, poses a serious challenge for communities, including those in rural areas. Plastic waste is non-biodegradable, meaning it can pollute the environment and pose a health hazard if not managed properly. One innovative solution offered is the ecobrick, a technique for managing plastic waste by compressing it into bottles until it becomes solid and can be used as an alternative building material. The program “Creating Value from Waste: Ecobrick Action for SDGs in Rural Areas” aims to raise public awareness about the importance of waste management and educate residents on how to repurpose plastic waste into useful and environmentally friendly products. This initiative aligns with the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in aspects such as responsible consumption and production, climate change mitigation, sustainable urban development, and quality education. The program’s results show that ecobricks not only serve as a solution for reducing plastic waste but also as a social movement that encourages community participation, fosters creativity, and creates local economic opportunities. Thus, ecobricks can be an effective strategy in efforts to create clean, healthy, and sustainable villages.
