Abstract

Food security is a national strategic issue, especially in areas with a relatively low food security index such as Kutai Kartanegara Regency. The chili commodity, as a staple food for the community, often faces productivity constraints. This activity is a response to the challenges of regional food security and an effort to support the 500 chili tree planting program initiated by the community. Through a participatory training approach consisting of counseling, demonstration, and discussion, participants were invited to be actively involved in the process of making POC from household waste materials. The results showed that the educational extension activities on the use of liquid organic fertilizer in order to support the chili planting movement in Teluk Bingkai Village were attended by 30 participants. This program not only supports efforts to increase chili production at the household level, but also contributes to food security in Teluk Bingkai village, empowerment of village women, and efforts to protect the environment through the use of organic waste.
