Abstract

The Community Service Program (KKN) in Kota Bangun Ilir Village, Kota Bangun District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, carried the theme “Processing Dry Leaf Waste into Organic Compost.” The main program, held on August 5, 2025, involved the participation of neighborhood leaders, the Family Welfare Movement (PKK), youth organizations, and local women’s groups. The purpose of this activity was to provide knowledge and practical skills to the community in processing dry leaf waste into useful and environmentally friendly compost. The methods applied included observation, socialization, counseling, hands-on practice, and group discussions. The results showed an improvement in community understanding of the importance of organic waste management as well as their ability to independently produce compost. The compost produced can be applied in agriculture, household gardens, and greening activities, while also having potential as an eco-friendly business opportunity. This program encouraged the community to reduce organic waste and contributed to sustainable environmental conservation.
