The Thematic Community Service Program (KKN) Group 08 of Mulawarman University, with the theme of food security, was carried out in Sangatta Selatan Village, Sangatta Selatan Sub-District, East Kutai Regency. This program aimed to raise community awareness of the importance of food security through education, mentoring, and the application of local food processing and cultivation innovations. The methods applied included interactive socialization, hands-on practice, administrative assistance, and the establishment of demonstration units. The main programs implemented were the B2SA menu creation competition with the PKK women’s group, mushroom chili paste production with the Berseri Women Farmer Group, food waste and nutrition awareness at elementary schools, distribution of Bulog rice, promotion of fish consumption, halal certification assistance for mushroom chili paste MSMEs, and the introduction and installation of aquaponics. The results indicated an improvement in community knowledge and skills in managing local food resources, increased awareness of nutritious food consumption, and the emergence of new business opportunities based on local processed products. Therefore, this KKN program contributed to strengthening food security as well as empowering the local economy of Sangatta Selatan Village.
