Abstract

This community empowerment activity is part of the Community Service Program (KKN) of the 51st batch of Mulawarman University in Sepinggan Baru Village, Balikpapan. The issues raised focus on three main aspects: family health, the environment, and youth empowerment. Programs related to the health aspect include TOGA Berseri (Family Medicinal Plants) and Rainwater Utilization Installation (IPAH). Meanwhile, the environmental aspect includes maggot cultivation activities from organic waste and botanical pesticides made from onion peels. Furthermore, in empowering the youth generation, Smart Talk was held to strengthen youth communication skills. All activities were carried out with a participatory approach, involving the RT Head, PKK, DAWIS, and youth groups through methods of socialization, training, and mentoring in the community. The results of the activities showed an increase in the use of yards for medicinal plants, more effective management of organic waste, and the birth of innovative environmentally friendly products with economic value. The Smart Talk program increased self-confidence and public speaking skills in the younger generation, while the barcode information board on TOGA strengthened the community's digital literacy. The impact of this program supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 3 (Health and Well-Being), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 15 (Life on Land). The sustainability of the program is guaranteed by community partners, especially PKK Pokja 3 and DAWIS 2, who are committed to continuing management even after the KKN program ends.
