Abstract

Food security is a crucial issue in Suka Rahmat Village, which still faces limited knowledge, skills, and access to resources needed to optimize its potential in fisheries and agriculture. Through a community service program using a participatory approach, a series of initiatives were carried out to address these challenges. The programs included fish breeding and seed distribution of gourami, training and practice in cultivating chili and tomato in home gardens, distribution of plant seedlings, and the introduction of hydroponic systems. The results showed an improvement in community knowledge and skills in cultivation, increased availability of fresh food that is more easily accessible, and the growth of village self-reliance in meeting daily food needs. Community empowerment based on local potential has proven effective in strengthening food security while supporting sustainable rural development.
