Abstract

Stunting and anemia are the most common public health problems that impact the quality of human resources in the future. The prevalence of stunting in Babulu District, North Penajam Paser Regency was recorded at 14.64% in toddlers, and anemia cases often occur in junior high and high school girls. As a form of concrete action to address these problems, the BARIS (Babulu Atasi Risiko Stunting) program was implemented, which is one of the Community Service Program (KKN) activities through counseling-based interventions in six secondary schools with a focus on increasing student knowledge about stunting and anemia. Counseling was carried out using interactive lectures, discussions, and pre- and post-test evaluations to see how students' knowledge about stunting and anemia improved. The program participated in 489 students. There was an increase in the average knowledge score based on the evaluation results, namely from 73.88 in the pre-test stage to 80.03 in the post-test stage, with a difference of 6.15 points. The lowest score for all schools increased from 22.22 to 33.33, while the highest score reached 100 in several schools. The N-Gain score analysis indicates that the improvement was in the low to moderate category. These results indicate that the outreach intervention was able to improve student knowledge, although the improvement was not optimal and still requires further development and evaluation. This program is expected to become a model for community service that can be implemented in other regions to support preventive efforts in addressing stunting and anemia cases early.
