Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a crucial role in Indonesia’s economy. However, globalization and the digital era require MSMEs to adapt to technology in order to remain competitive and sustainable. This community service activity was carried out as part of the 51st Community Service Program (KKN) of Mulawarman University, held from July 14 to August 20, 2025, in Long Iram Kota Village, Kutai Barat Regency, East Kalimantan. The objective was to enhance the digital literacy of MSME actors through the utilization of WhatsApp Business and Google Maps as tools for promotion, communication, and competitiveness. The method consisted of three stages: pre-implementation (observation, survey, preparation of materials, and distribution of invitations), implementation (socialization of materials and hands-on training on WhatsApp Business account creation and MSME registration on Google Maps), and evaluation and mentoring (reflection, technical guidance, and distribution of digitalization posters). The results showed improved understanding and practical skills of participants in using WhatsApp Business and Google Maps. The outputs included newly created WhatsApp Business accounts, MSME listings on Google Maps, and digitalization posters. This activity not only strengthened the digital capacity of local MSMEs but also contributed to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). Therefore, this program can serve as a model for rural MSME empowerment through sustainable digital technology adoption.
