Bacterial infections are still a significant global health problem, especially due to increasing resistance to synthetic antibiotics. This condition encourages the search for alternative treatments that are safer, more effective, and based on natural ingredients. One potential plant is the donkey leaf (Artocarpus lanceifolius), which is known to contain bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and phenolics with antibacterial activity. Community Services activity in Wonosari Village, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, was carried out through socialization about the use of potato leaf ethanol extract as a natural antibacterial. The methods used include material delivery, interactive discussions, demonstrations of simplicia and extract processing, and evaluation of community understanding. The results of the activity showed high enthusiasm from residents who mostly did not know the antibacterial benefits of yam leaves, even though they had been using the fruit for a long time. This socialization not only adds insight into traditional health, but also opens up opportunities for the development of herbal products based on local resources. Laboratory tests showed that assel leaf ethanol extract had weak antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis and Escherichia coli, indicated by a smaller inhibition zone compared to the positive control. However, the potential for development remains large with the note that further research is needed, such as optimization of extraction methods, purification of active compounds, or combinations with other antibacterial agents. Thus, this program contributes to public education while opening the direction of research and innovation of herbal products for health and sustainable economy.
