Abstract

Based on observations of the bottled drinking water production process, various work activities that require attention from an ergonomic perspective can be identified. For instance, in the QC process, workers observe and check bottled water products with a hunched posture while staring at the products for long durations each day under excessive light. In the packing division, there is repetition and manual handling as workers repeatedly move products into cartons and lift cartons weighing approximately 10 kg into the storage warehouse. Similarly, in the loading division, workers repeatedly lift and lower these heavy cartons to load them onto trucks. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the ergonomic risk factors for workers in the Production Department of PT Berkah Sumber Tirta from physical, mental, and visual fatigue aspects. The study employs several methods, including GOTRAK SNI 9011:2021, Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey (MBI-GS), and Visual Fatigue Index (VFI). Based on the calculations and analyses conducted, it was found that the quality control division experiences high levels of fatigue and reports MSDs, with pain, stiffness, and discomfort in the elbow, upper back, and lower back, at a total percentage of 100%. Workers also experience visual fatigue, indicated by a VFI score of 0.63. In the loading division, overall, workers do experience fatigue, yet all workers suffer from MSDs in the lower back at a percentage of 100%, as well as in the arms and upper back at a percentage of 75%. Recommendations for improvements in the production department include modifying the work position and lighting position in the quality control process so that workers do not directly gaze into the light, and for the loading workers, providing hand stacker lift machines to reduce manual handling activities.
