About the Journal

Aims and Scope

Journal of Research on Tropical Bioresources and Bioproducts (RectroBIO) is an international peer-reviewed, open access journal on forest and tropical environment published biannually by the Faculty of Forestry and Tropical Environment, University of Mulawarman.

RectroBIO publishes original research papers, reviews, and short communications. The journals are originated from diverse research areas related to tropical bioresources and bioproducts, which are important to both researchers and managers of forest and tropical environment. The articles emphasize new developments of major importance. Manuscripts that have been published or are currently under consideration for publication elsewhere are not accepted by RectroBIO.

Research areas covered by the journal:

  • All aspects of forest silviculture, including ecophysiology, entomology, pathology, soil and nutrition, bioremediation, and tree improvements.
  • Forest ecology and management, ecotourism, dendrology, ethnobotany, wildlife, soil and water conservation, and climate change.
  • Wood properties, wood processing, non timber forest products, bioenergy, biotechnology, and advanced biomaterials.
  • Forest economics, natural resource policy, and landscape forest planning.

Article Types

  • Original full-length research papers should be written with a minimum of 4,000 words, including table and picture captions.
  • The main text of review articles should be written with a minimum of 4,000 words.
  • Short communication should be written with a minimum of 2,000 words, including table and picture captions.

Peer Review Process

Acceptance of a manuscript signifies that it has been reviewed and recommended for publication by at least two reviewers, at least one of whom is normally a member of the Editorial Advisory Board. Within two to three months of receipt, authors will be notified of acceptance, rejection, or the need for revision. A manuscript is rejected if its content does not meet the journal's scope, does not adhere to ethical standards (i.e. false authorship, plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, and citation manipulation), does not meet the required quality, is written in an inappropriate format, or contains errors in the grammar. Manuscripts may also be rejected if two reviewers provide negative feedback. Proofs that have not been amended will be emailed to the associated author for review and correction of typographical errors. Corrected proofs should be provided within seven days to minimize publication delays. Accepted manuscripts will be published chronologically.

The review procedure was done in a double-blind approach, with the authors and reviewers' identities disguised. Information about their identities can be disclosed only with both parties' consent. Authors are invited to submit a list of five potential reviewers. Management has the option of inviting or not inviting them. Reviewers must have a Scopus-ID or a Researcher-ID (Thomson Reuters) or be listed in this journal as a corresponding author. Reviewers must represent a variety of institutions and authors, preferably from a variety of nations.

Publication Frequency

RectroBIO will be published biannually in Mei and November through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.

Open Access Policy

RectroBIO is an open access journal, which means that this journal is freely accessible without any charge to readers or their institutions to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles without asking permission from the publisher or the author.
