This research investigated the cognitive metonymy and the multicultural components reflected in EFL’s selected poems. To emphasize the aspect of novelty, the researcher combined metonymy and multicultural study to see the effects of literary devices on cultural aspects. The researcher found the type of metonymy that frequently occurred was part for whole. Moreover, multicultural elements were dominated by cultural diversity and respecting ethnic and racial diversity. Furthermore, this study may be used as a reference for using poetic devices to criticize society through literature and a type of self-anticipation from friction due to differences in ethnicity, culture and religion.
