THE EFFECT OF NOISE INTENSITY ON WORKER FATIGUE AND PERFORMANCE AT PT. MEKAR ARMADA JAYA

This study aims to analyze the effect of noise intensity on worker fatigue and performance at PT. Mekar Armada Jaya, particularly in the Stamping & Tools Division which has high noise levels. This research employs a quantitative method with a descriptive correlational approach. The variables in this study include noise intensity as the independent variable (X), work fatigue as the mediating variable (M), and worker performance as the dependent variable (Y).
Noise measurements were conducted using a Sound Level Meter (SLM) based on NIOSH standards and SNI 7231:2009. Fatigue data were collected using the Industrial Fatigue Research Committee (IFRC) questionnaire, while worker performance was measured using a self-assessment questionnaire with a Likert scale. Data analysis was carried out using regression analysis to determine both direct and indirect effects among variables.
The results show that noise intensity has a significant effect on work fatigue. However, noise intensity does not have a significant direct effect on worker performance. Meanwhile, work fatigue has a significant effect on worker performance. This indicates that work fatigue acts as a mediating variable in the relationship between noise intensity and worker performance.
This study is expected to serve as a reference for companies in evaluating and controlling workplace noise to improve worker health and productivity.
