Abstract
Self-Disclosure in interpersonal communication generally occurs directly. However, as time goes by, self-disclosure in interpersonal communication can be done through social media such as Instagram. Plus, Instagram also has a multiple account feature which allows individuals to have 2 or more different accounts on one smartphone. This motivates some individuals to have a second account. This research aims to find out more about individual motives for having a second Instagram account. This type of research uses a case study method with a descriptive qualitative research design with data collection through observation and interviews with several informants based on the 5 dimensions of self-disclosure according to DeVito, namely the aim and purpose of creating a second account (intention), how often and how often detailed information shared via the second account (amount), quality of posts and information shared (valence), honesty and freedom in sharing information (accuracy), intimacy or closeness between individuals on the second account (intimate). Based on the results of research, several participants showed a tendency to be more open and honest in using their second account than their main account.
